4 teams that moved to typescript
4 teams moved to typescript. Many left Locize (1) or Notion (1). The typical team cut 97% of its bill. Each team's old bill, running cost and net saving.
TypeScript is the language in own builds from 2026, each replacing a single tool. The running costs are low where they're stated, which is in three of the four.
Serge Bulaev cancelled a three-seat Calendly plan, about $60 a month, and built Punctual, an open-source scheduler on a single Cloudflare Worker, with Claude writing most of the code over ten days. Its running cost is recorded as zero. StatusPing.dev's creator replaced a $79 a month BetterUptime plan for side-project monitoring with an uptime checker on Next.js, Neon and Vercel, at about $5 for the whole stack. Turing College built Doku in seven days to replace Notion and runs it on Railway for about $13 against about $420.
The largest bill, Uspacy's roughly $690 a month for Locize, has no running cost. It rebuilt the localization service it needed in Go and TypeScript on MySQL in one evening, so its saving is the whole bill.
Where costs are given, the cuts run from 94% to 100%. The page totals about $1,230 a month saved, and more than half of that is Uspacy's unpriced saving. The stories describe build time in days or hours, but none yet reports what ongoing maintenance costs.
