72 teams that moved to custom build

72 teams moved to custom build. Many left HubSpot (5) or Salesforce (4). The typical team cut 97% of its bill. Each team's old bill, running cost and net saving.

59vendors they left

Every story on this page ends with software the team owns rather than rents, and the 72 of them cover almost any category: CRMs, sign-in, feature flags, status pages, booking, bookkeeping, link pages. Not all of them involved AI coding tools. Vetted Health built an internal feature flag platform to replace LaunchDarkly in 2024, and Mind had Torchbox build sign-in on Wagtail in place of Okta. Most are from 2026, and many of those overlap with the vibe-coded page.

The largest entry is Curative. Its CEO told Business Insider the company built an internal CRM in about two months, ending a $600,000 a year Salesforce bill. That accounts for about 38% of the page's roughly $133,000 a month. Below it the bills drop quickly. The median old bill is about $106 a month, and many stories are one person replacing one subscription.

The trade-off is that the bill turns into work. Only 28 stories give a running cost, so most savings count the whole old bill, and few count the hours. A few stories show why teams accept it anyway. Omoi built its own time tracker after a Harvest renewal jumped from about $1,300 to $21,000 a year. Hasan Cagli was paying $60 a month for Buffer while using about 10% of it. Others, like Fivetran's own status page, which still runs $1,000 to $2,000 a month, keep a large share of the original cost.

Written from these stories, updated Nov 2026. Numbers as each team reported them. How this ledger works
